Unlike most Legendary pokemon, Matt hasn't lived for hundreds, thousands of years. He has no great legendary tale about how he molded the earth with some giant titanic clash with another almighty being. He was simply created just eighteen years ago.

It was a scientific breakthrough, yes. But nothing that would be carved into the pillars of history.
He was cloned from mew, bringer of life, to be the world's most powerful Pokemon. Least that's what some told him.
Others told him it was to perfect cloning, whatever the case was Matt was nothing like was intended.

He went through strict training, was raised with a gang. All in hopes of toughening him and getting him ready for the war machine he was suppose to become. What came out of it was the sort of light hearted air head that Matt is today.

Always with his head in the clouds wondering what else was out there. He loved putting on a tough boy act. Dying his hair, piercing his tongue
pretending to be mean and a bad boy.
But it never takes much to make him laugh or smile and wipe that facade away.

Sure, he had wondered just who he was, who was his 'mother' and what were
they like. Maybe he'd meet them one day. Tell them who he was. They could do cool parent child bonding things. He often pictures some little picnic in the park scene.
Though things probably wouldn't go so well. Go figure it'd be his luck that mew would be a man.
As depressing as one might think he should be, he honestly isn't. He can't think of a logical reason to be mopey.
People may have tried to use him, told he was only made to be used- but he's alive. That alone is enough to keep him optimistic and fulling enjoying his life.
Besides, he was never one to dwell on things. Most of all, he never one to let anyone hold him down.

So despite the security to keep him at his 'home' he left.
hoping to explore, and find other Pokemon willing spend time with him. He found out many things about himself. Such as how he loved dancing, music, laughing, and doing stunts. He loved the adrenaline rush, and it showed off pretty well to the ladies. (I mean have you seen them lopunny girls?)
Traveling taught him a lot of the world and himself, but it didn't offer any safety or comfort to relax. Maybe one day he can find that.
